Many years ago in Pee Wee Camp, the director/evangelist made a great impact in my life. He will never know how one statement has stuck with me my whole life.
During the alter call, he stated "Do you really mean the words you're singing or are you just singing them? This time, don't sing unless you truly mean it."
Wow! I had never thought of that before. Tradition said to sing. But at that moment, I understood more of it was a praise/promise to God.
I know that since that camp I've not always been the best or always really meant what I was singing, but that statement has forever been etched into my memory.
30 years later as God continues to chisel me into his masterpiece, he reminds me of that moment in time. SJ do you really mean it? Or are you singing just to be singing and follow the crowd?
Lord, thank you for those willing servants you placed in my life to make an impact on me. May you greatly reward them for following your will. I am grateful for your gentle reminders and never giving up on me even when I've given up.
